For this months 10 things on the 10th I have gone with a Patriotic theme to honour the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
Here are 10 lesser known facts about the Queen.
1.The Queen has sat for 129 portraits during her reign, launched 21 ships, undertaken 261 official overseas visits to 116 different countries & held more than 610 investitures.
2.The Queen doesn't have a passport & is the only person in Britain who can drive without a driving licence or car registration.
3.The Queen has 9 thrones- 6 at Buckingham Palace, 1 at the House of Lords & 2 at Westminster Abbey.
4.The Queen speaks fluent French & often uses it when she is with French-speaking ambassadors & heads of state.
5.The Queen has given regular Tuesday evening audiences to 12 Prime Ministers during her reign, from Winston Churchill to David Cameron.
6.The Queen collected clothing coupons for her wedding dress in 1947.
7.Queen Elizabeth was 25 when she ascended to the throne in 1952, the same age as Elizabeth 1 was when she became Queen.
8.The Queen was the first female member of the Royal family to serve as a full-time active member of the armed forces, rather than having an honorary rank.
9.The Queen owns England's swans and also the sturgeons, whales & dolphins in the waters around the UK.
10.The Queen's love of corgis is well documented & she has owned more than 30 of them during her reign. She also introduced a new breed - the dorgi, a cross between a corgi & a dachshund.

Great Ten things... some wonderful facts, I particular like the one about "The Queen collected clothing coupons for her wedding dress in 1947", as my Grandmother also collected coupons for her wedding dress as well. Thank you for sharing!

Great 10 Things. What an amazing week this must have been for you! We saw some coverage on our news here in the states and it looked like an amazing party. Now I'm armed for any queen trivia that comes up! :)
