Happy 65th...

Yesterday marked the 65th Anniversary of Rough Close, our local scout camp site.
Three generations of my family have benefitted from having this wonderful site on our doorstep.

They held a free open day where you could try out scouting activities & crafts.

Harriet crate climbing.

Making knotted dragonflies.

Plus rope bridge, rifle shooting & loads to see with birds of prey, ferret racing and a police dog display.

All finished off with a campfire and scout songs old & new.

They had a blanket badge made specially too.

Designer Bargain

I love nothing more than having a designer bargain delivered with my Tesco food shop, and thats exactly what happened today.

Orla Kiely has worked her magic again & produced another reusable charity bag for Tesco.

It can be yours for the princely sum of £4 !!
Also 50p from each bag sale goes to CLIC Sargent Cancer Care for Children .

And another !

Using the sketch challenge
over on

I turned the sketch on it's side to suit my pics.
I've used MME So Sophie, Frost &
The Merry Days of Christmas,
plus some brads from my stash.

Part of the challenge is to use song lyrics
I've used some from
Make it together by The Strawbs.

Why a xmas Lo in June ?!
well I'm working on finishing
last years Journal your Christmas !!
& all my christmassy stash is out,
so it all makes perfect sense to me !

Whilst hopping ...

Whilst blog hopping
I came across a challenge on the
to create a Lo using their sketch
& song lyrics.

This is my Lo
using lyrics from a Camp Rock song
This is Me.

I've used my April ScrapaGoGo Kit
Cameos & Roses
plus a few other MME bits from my stash.

These photos of me were taken by
the amazing Kirsty Wiseman
during a GoGo Getaway retreat.

Let it Shine

When I saw the twist- SHINE for this week for my
I knew exactly the photo I wanted to use.

I was lucky enough to see them twice on their Circus tour,
where I took this pic of Gary,
it rained so badly on one of the nights
but they just carried on regardless :)
& we are going to see them again in a couple of weeks x

I've used the last of my ScrapaGoGo May 2010 Kit,
plus their exclusive stamp from February 2011
which I've stamped twice & layered with foam pads.

I've turned the sketch to create this Lo
as it suited my photo better.
Hope you like it x

Home alone ...

or as home alone as you can be
in a house with 3 teenage kids !

let me explain
I'm what they call a
Golf Widow

Now don't get me wrong
I'm not concerned or upset by this
as Paul has certainly earned his little jaunt
but the question is what should I do ???

Before we come up with some wacky suggestions
I still need to do the school run
& a few Mum's taxi journeys too.

So as a lover of lists
I thought I'd compile one of all the things I fancy doing.

Watch any channel
Catching up on all my recorded programmes...starting with Glee
Watch a girlie movie or two
Scrap & spread my stash all out !
Paint my toe nails a different colour every day
Read gossipy mags whilst snuggled in the quilt
Eat what I fancy for tea
Eating in front of the TV
Putting my PJ's on at tea time
Go for a run
Go for a swim
Lunch out
Lie in a steaming hot bath with my book
Surf the net in bed
Catch up with some girlie chat on the phone :)

Can you see I'm new to this !!
What would you do ?
Can you recommend something I should add to my list?

Little Army Boy

I've used more of the delicious
ScrapaGoGo June kit
Things to Make and Do
for this Lo
Little Army Boy.

These pics were taken during Matthews
13th birthday treat!
He has such a big grin on his face
whilst holding that gun!

I added cross hairs to the warning sign
from the free exclusive hybrids
designed by Kirsty Wiseman.

The splats of paint & a set of
"dog tags' finish it off.

Through sunshine & showers..

In typical British summer style, yesterdays District Cub Scout Camp sampled all types of weather & saw all sorts of outfit combinations !
From caps, cream & shades to wellies & waterproofs & back again !!
This however did not dampen the mood of the children there, who all had a chance to mix with other groups, catch up with old friends, complete some badge work, eat loads & have a campfire.
H, M & I were there in helper roles & it reminded me why I'm in Scouting & how much we all love it.

Just a pic of H to finish catching her breath before the next lot of washing up !!

10 Things...

This caught my eye
over on Shimelle's blog this morning.
To list 10 things on the 10th of the month,
any 10 things relevant to you
so here goes...

10 Things I Adore Right Now.

1) Family & Friends - No surprise there I know :)
but I want to add how fabulous they have all been
when we've needed them most & for that I will be eternally grateful x

2) Travel Guides - I just love to paw over these when
we start to make our holiday plans
There are some exciting adventures on the horizon.

3) Scrapbooking - I love all scrapbooking brings me,
fab supplies, full albums, loads of photos
teaching opportunities, DT work & like minded friends.

4) Other Hobbies - Lately I've been branching out a little
enjoying the freedom that paints, inks & sprays have to offer.
Also I'm knitting & sewing again too.

5) Light Evenings - Over the last year I've started to
enjoy running & these light evenings make me feel
so much safer to be out on my own.
Only downside now is the traffic get to view me in Lycra !!

6) Ice Cold Coke - Need I say more !
(This pic was taken over xmas!)

7) Painted Toe Nails - It's the little things ? right ?
A little bit of colour makes me smile.
Mine tend to be green or blue :)

8) Fresh Flowers - having flowers in the house
makes it feel like home.
Sweet Williams are a favourite.

9) Ipad 2 - What an invention
I love to go to bed & snuggle down in the quilt
& use the Ipad to catch up on the day,
watch a movie or play a game.

10) Summer Fruits - So many to choose from
all sweet & juicy
what's not to love ?

Hope you adore my 10 things too
I'm thinking this should be a scrapbook page too.

A Little Fruity !

Melon Munchers.

I created this Lo using ScrapaGoGo's June kit
Things To Make And Do.
The Hometown Summer paper-fruit stand
took me right back to a fabulous family holiday
in Spain in August 2008.
Where the children liked nothing more than
sitting on the pool side
eating watermelon & splashing their feet !

I used ScrapaGoGo's exclusive free hybrids
to finish off my title.
Hope you like it x

ScrapaGoGo's May Kit

I've just realised that I hadn't shared the last 2 Lo's
I'd made with my May kit from ScrapaGoGo
So here they are.

Near & Far.

This Lo doesn't feature a photo
but instead the artistic impression
of what our new home will look like once it's finished.
I printed it on to photo canvas
& coloured it in with Promarkers.

Title created by using this months stamp
on acetate & mounting in a Maya Rd chipboard tag.

Sweet Temptation

My brother very kindly sent Thorntons eggs
for the children at Easter
I have to admit it was very hard
to stop myself from devouring them
when I opened the box !!

The Prima Iris Collection flowers
are lovely additions to any Lo.
