Happy November to you all :)
Here we are on the first sunday of the month which makes it Story Telling Sunday over at High in the Sky.
This month I wasn't sure what Precious I was going to share but I needn't have worried as one in fact two became very clear to me this week...
Let me explain...most people know by now the issues we've had with our home but the knock on effect of the rebuild has been the state of our back garden after the fire crew, digger & demolition team & then builders all tramped & traipsed over it. We did have some work done on it initially but settling back into our home took priority.
Over the last couple of weeks we have had a new path laid & the gardener/builder man took a shine to these 2 garden ornaments which were semi hidden in a border against the fence & even hinted he would like them.
Now I wouldn't usually be a fan of Gnomes etc but these two were part of the garden when we originally bought the house way back when & we even joked about them to each other after our initial viewing of the property & although we never meant for them to stay they did. I was shocked by how protective I felt when there was a chance they would be going. We don't have many original features left so I think we need to find them a perfect spot in the new design.
Hop on over to Sians blog to read more stories this sunday x

oh that's so good. Don't forget to find him a new fishing pole
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed your story very much today - and it is good to be reminded how what we don't value initially can indeed become precious!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Alexa..a lovely reminder that we don't always realise what things mean to us. We have a stone rabbbt in our garden. He has lost his ears and we have tried many different glues to reattach them, but I'm not about to let him go just because he mightn't be able to hear us! Thanks Sheens. I'm glad you are getting the garden back
ReplyDeleteIt is funny how we become so protective of things that weren't initially important to us! Hope you find the perfect spot for them - great story!
ReplyDeleteI think both of them need a nice big pond - hope you can find just the right place for them.
ReplyDeleteThey are both lovely and I think it's great that you feel so protective towards them x
ReplyDeleteThey look just perfect for a garden......old and weathered.
ReplyDeleteThis post mad me smile - love that you have become attached to them. Hope you can find them a lovely new home in your garden
ReplyDeleteGlad you've kept them and I'm sure they will have pride of place now. I love gnomes and statues.
ReplyDeleteActually, I am another who agrees with Alexa - I hope they find a happy new spot!
ReplyDeleteGreat story Sheena. Let us know what you do with them in the end.
ReplyDeleteI guess their longevity has earned them a proper spot in the garden re-do. I think the gnome would look lovely amidst some wildflowers - and the bird(?) would be great by a pond.
ReplyDeleteI like that they survived the trauma and still hold a place in your heart.
ReplyDeleteIt's a happy memory, so not surprised you feel protective of them
