Story Telling Sunday- My Valentine

Here we are again, sharing our Precious on Story Telling Sunday devised by the lovely Sian over at High in the Sky.

Today I wanted to share with you a story dear to my heart. Every year on Valentines Day I always receive at least 1 card.
That doesn't seem especially unusual I hear you say, particularly as I've been with my husband for 24 years, but I can't remember a year I didn't get a valentines card. It's not because I'm pretty or popular or anything. It's because I'm loved by a man whose very special to me - my Dad.
Every year he has sent me a card. I remember when I was aged about 11 or 12 going to school on the school bus with a card in my bag that had arrived in the post that morning to show my friends with a grin on my face. In those days I didn't know who the sender was, that came later.
As I got older I knew who they were coming from & I started to return the favour. In 1993, the year I got married I didn't send him one assuming they would stop but they didn't & they continue to this day.

For various reasons I don't have all the old cards but thats ok as I can remember some of the wonderful things he wrote. Long may they continue x

  3. This story touched my heart. Valentine's Day was my father's favorite holiday, and he never missed sending me a gift for Valentine's Day. I don't recall cards---he sent regular letters---but on Valentine's Day there was always a little something in the mail. I love the photo of you and your dad.

  16. David sends Gracia a Valentine's card too and always buys her a little present to go with it. I think daughters will always be their dad's special valentines.
