45 & ...

Here is a page I made a couple of weeks ago using ScrapaGoGo's March kit " Freedom of Speech" I really love the red, navy & kraft colour combo.
The title & the journalling were inspired by the ampersands in the kit giving me a chance to document a few things about me and my life right now.The photo was taken by Cheryl Johnson :)
I used the speech bubble stickers, their outline & I drew around 2 stickers & made masks to ink the cardstock to create my own background.
The fabric in the kit I used to make a yo yo to hold my title.

The page was finished with hybrid elements, bespoke card, Maya Rd kraft girls & my typed journalling.

What a Weekend ...

Last weekend was the 10th GoGoGetaway Retreat. I can't believe that I've actually been to 9 out of the 10 as either a delegate or a DT member(I missed the first one). I've had an amazing time at them all & you think they couldn't get any better till you go to the next one.
I taught 3 classes this time, the first on Saturday.
Madam Butterfly.
focusing on making decorated pins.
Later on Saturday I taught Papillon Punk.
focusing on using watch parts in a feminine way.
then on Sunday,Paper Plumage.
 focusing on making bookplate feathers.
All the lovely Ladies together x
Heres looking forward to GoGoGetaway 11 in October.

Harry Potter Tour

Today despite the cold we took my Parents to the Harry Potter Studios, which was their Xmas gift from us. We had been before but that didn't stop us from really enjoying it again as there is so much to look at.
Us in the Great Hall
Gryffindor Common Room
Hogwarts

I wont add any more images as I don't want to spoil it for other visitors but the sight of my Dad sitting on the flying motorbike & sidecar will stay with me forever :D.
Mum & Dad really had a fabulous time & now want to go & re-watch all the HP movies again.

A bit of shopping...

Twice a year the Hobby Craft Show comes to the NEC Birmingham, which to be honest is literally right on my doorstep. So I always go for a look and usually take my Mum :)This time I wasn't after very much, just some basics really.
Along side the Hobby Craft Show there is usually The Sewing for Pleasure Hall & I particularly love looking around these stalls.I got bobbins & a holder for them plus a few new materials. The tape measure print is a favourite.

Back in the Hobby Craft Hall I really liked these different paper clips, they are key shaped in the black packaging.

The rest of my haul consisted of storage boxes, glue pens, masks, wood veneer, gems & washi tape. I also purchased a new magazine to try out.

I have to admit there weren't many scrapbook shops there but I wasn't really after any papers & I still enjoyed having a good wander around.

Getting away from it all

I recently went away on a scrapping weekend with a lovely group of Ladies to a superb cottage in the countryside.  We really treated ourselves & hired an outside caterer to sort the food so we could chill & laugh & of course scrap all the time.

I was really productive by my standards & created 8 layouts & finished a big project I'd started at a previous retreat.
I'm totally in love with my Silhouette Cameo & made 2 lo's with cutout backgrounds.
This is the first.Beautiful.
After layering papers behind the cutout I didn't want to cover too much of it up so kept my embellishment to one corner. The title is also a Silhouette cut.

We did take a break for a mini photo shoot but boy was it cold!
I'll share more finished pages soon x

...that 13 years ago today on St Patricks Day our family became complete with the arrival of our baby girl Harriet Rose.
The past 13 years have flown by & our little bundle has grown into a smart, beautiful, creative, loving young lady of whom we are so proud.
So today I become the Mum of 3 teenagers!!Heaven help me :D

Scrapping a song...

When I saw that Scrap365 magazine wanted layouts documenting "music in your life" for their April/May edition, I embarked on making a page I would never have made without their initial push.

Our Mountain to Climb.

The song in question -is "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus. I heard it purely by chance when I needed it most. During the 2 years between the house fire & the new house being rebuilt there were times when I really struggled to stay positive. This song became an anthem to me, giving me strength to keep going & moving forward.
You can hear it here. I printed the song lyrics on the background paper using an A4 printer.
and included the song on a hidden CD for future reference.
The powerful lyrics still bring tears to my eyes reminding me that we have climbed our mountain as a family & lived to tell the tale x

Love is ...

I hope you had a lovely Mothers Day x I did, both by spending time with my Mum & my children. I thought I'd share with you this quick Lo I made with the last of my ScrapaGoGo " Nearest & Dearest" february kit.

Love is ...my 3.
I used 3 of the frames cut from the Authentique Lovely Greetings paper to highlight 3 photos of my children all taken when they were around 6 months old. I couldn't get over how similar they look especially the  youngest two. I know as siblings they would look  alike but I'd never compared them before.
I inked the embossed tag to hold my title & little embellishments cut from the papers.
A pretty quick Lo by my standards but I love that feeling of using up a kit.

Doing a little crochet...

I've been trying to finish things I've started & as this was top of my crochet box it got seen to first! This cushion may look familiar. The pattern for this is from Lucy at Attic 24. I loved how it looked when made up in lots of colours like I did last year for Harriets room but for our bedroom I wanted a more grown up feel so I crocheted it in all one colour.

I'm really pleased with how it looks & the texture of the petals. It's approx 12in across & I got the cushion filler off the internet.

Now to rummage through the other WIP's to see what to work on next !
