Taken a Tumble...

This was a bit of a shock to come back to after being away with friends for the weekend. Matt had come off his bike & having put his hands out to safe himself, he'd got a sore left wrist. A visit to A & E hasn't proved either way if his wrist is broken so for now he has to rest it in this splint & visit the fracture clinic on tuesday!

To make matters worse he is left handed !! So now it's a waiting game to see how much damage he's done!!

Turning into an obsession !!

What is problem with collecting things?! Don't answer that!!
I admit I have a thing for washi tape & although I own enough of the stuff, these 6 rolls joined my collection yesterday.
Now I just need to start using it more :D

All finished :)

After a fabulous couple of days sewing with Kirsty & friends in Sheffield, I am pleased to show you my first finished quilt :D I am so pleased with how it's turned out & it is perfect for Miss H's bedroom.

With the help & patience of Kirsty I've learnt loads of new sewing skills making this & already have the pieces to start to make another quilt.
As you can see I'm not the only person that loves it x

A rare chance...

to have a relaxing start to a sunday :) before we had children & my shifts allowed, this is how we chose to spend many a sunday together, at home, catching up on world events, news & gossip whilst enjoying a cuppa & a croissant wearing my PJ's.
Now our family are all growing up, we are going to try & re-establish some of our fondly remembered past times starting with this one.

Happy Sunday :)

Building up my stash :D

...of fabric!!
It's just as addictive as buying scrapbook supplies. I have no set projects in mind yet but lots of ideas :)
Here's a few of my favourites
cameras.
These were purchased whilst in Australia.
Foxes.
more!
Christmas.
These are going to become 2 quilts when I've finished the one I'm working on at the moment.
If you know any good shops or patterns or sewing blogs etc that you think I will like, please leave me a comment so I can check them out.
Regards

Oh What a Night

We managed to get tickets to see Micheal McIntyre in concert over a year ago & have had to wait patiently till last night to see him Live.
Oh boy it was certainly worth the wait he had us laughing till we cried with his observational humour.

I wont spoil it for you but we will be getting the DVD in November, it was That Good :) & would see him again if we got the chance.

Back scrapping...

...which was not as hard as I thought once I'd opened my lush September ScrapaGoGo kit
"Manuscript Moods"
packed full of paper & embellishments plus a stamp too.
I'm really pleased how this turned out :) I inked the background of this Basic Grey paper using the JBS stencil before building up strips on the right hand side to echo the ones already on the patterned paper.
The photo is matted on glassine paper I embossed. All finished with grouped embellishments & a title.
The photo shows the 3 volumes of diary I wrote on our recent trip to Australia, I didn't write that much ! but I've filled it with leaflets & postcards & such... I'll show you in a separate post soon.
 Many thanks for looking x

Had the machine out...

I've not been able to share this before today as the first two were a present for a lovely friend of mine Yvonne, whose birthday is today :) All you scrappers out there will recognise this material as October Afternoon. My scrappy bud Kirsty gave me the link for these drawstring bags when we spent a day quilting together & they are so easy to make that as you can see I made 3!
These two came on holiday with us & were so useful for storing things like camera film, making them easy to find in the suitcases & in our hand luggage. The material was purchased in Joann's a couple of years ago! I can see there being an epidemic of these at our house :D
I have another sewing day planned with Kirsty soon but I have a quilt top that needs my attention then as Harriet is eager to have it finished & in her bedroom.

Getting back into it...

Having had a break for nearly 2 months from crafting, I really want to get scrapping again. So to get me in the mood I've been looking through my albums at how my pages have changed. Boy !  my Lo's have altered both with the supplies I use & also the trends that have been and gone!
I no longer have my first few albums but can remember the shaped photos & precise layering they had on them!

This is one of the earliest Lo's on my computer I can find, featuring my maternal grandparents on their wedding day.
This Lo is one I've not shared before of Paul & I taken with a iphone app.
 ...and a close up x
I think it's time for me to go make a mess with pretty papers :)

My month in numbers - August

Better late than never, I say! We landed a couple of days ago & I'm trying to shake off the last of the jet lag before I have to tackle the ironing :(

Here is a different way of looking at our past month  in Australia using a wonderful idea by Julie Kirk.

August
Turned 45 with 2 cocktails at the Hard Rock Cafe, Surfers Paradise x
Only 5 blog post this month as just too busy enjoying ourselves!
Saw 10 Humpback whales in the ocean as they came close to our boat to check us out!
No recipes this month but tried 2 new foods, crocodile burgers & kangaroo steaks.
We travelled 21,294km by plane over 5 flights.
I held 1 cuddly but stinky koala!
We used 16 different types of transport including river boat, catamaran, cable ferry, cable car, camper van, funicular railway ...
Saw 1,000's of fish on the great barrier reef.
Have millions of special memories of this amazing trip.

thank you for looking
