Birmingham trip

We took the children and my mum to Birmingham ,we knew it was cold but the canal was covered in sheets of ice and we stood and watched the ducks slip slide across it !.We wandered around the German Christmas Market enjoying the sights and smells.

We went on the Mail Wheel-I can tell you now , this is not going to become a tradition- I hated it !! I've been on the london eye twice without a problem but what i was not expecting was for the little pods to rock !!and as the children moved to see the sights of Birmingham lit up it rocked even more !!

christmas time

I hope you have all had a good christmas, we certainly have.

We had all the family to dinner and with the kitchen now extended , all fitted around the table comfortably. The children were very happy with their presents and apart from a remote controlled dragonfly malfunction everything worked as it should.

All Bundled Up

The December Scrapagogo Kit is arriving on members doorsteps as I type, and what a kit this is,the bright fresh colours and amazing embellishments had me creating in no time.
I know I say it every month but this has to be my favourite so far.

The free hybrids you can download co ordinate beautifully with the kit and make it stretch even further.

busy day

Yesterday Daniel was 15 !!
Happy Birthday Son x
I feel that can't be right ,where have those 15 years gone !

In the evening Harriet took part in a Young Voices concert at Birminghams NIA.

Hundreds of school children from around the midlands came together as One choir to perform together having spent months working on the songs at school beforehand.

Wow what a night the arena was packed and it was obvious the children were having the best time.We could see Harriet and her school mates from where we were all sitting but had taken binoculars just incase - it's a big place ! Sx

busy couple of weeks...

I know being busy is not a good excuse not to blog ,but are days getting shorter or am I just getting slower ?!
Iwas lucky enough to get a weekend away with some great scrapping friends in a cottage near shrewsbury. What fun we had playing games ,eating loads, talking lots, dressing up and oh yes scrapping !
this house was so suitable for us,with plenty of bedrooms and great scrapping space too.

On serendipity sunday ,we all dressed up in our rainbow colours-mine was GOLD !! and managed a quick group shot before the heavens opened !

All I can say is roll on next year .

A gift from Paul...

For getting my Nights away permit (see previous post ) Paul surprised me with a little gift.
Sorry for the poor photo !! This little silver troll bead is 2 cute mice on a piece of cheese.
Odd choice you may think but Paul always tells a story about when we first moved to this house and in the evenings I would see a mouse in our kitchen !! At this point I would point out we live opposite a farm !! Anyway to start with I was mad enough to think we only had ONE mouse, how wrong could i be !!We ended up getting proffessional help to sort out the problem.
So this is why he chose this bead.

Beaver Sleepover

As you probably already know I am a Beaver Scout leader.Eventhough my own children have moved on to other sections of the Movement ,I have stayed with the Beavers. This age group (6-8 yrs) are so much fun and so eager to learn that it makes our meetings really enjoyable.

Well last weekend I organised a Sleepover for the Beavers at our local Scout campsite, which was held in a beautiful centrally heated log cabin ajoining a small field and surrounded by woodland. For some this was their first expirence of being away from home overnight.I great team of Leaders and friends assissted me to make this very special for all taking part.
We had a packed programme including tracking by day and by night ,rocket launching ,archery ,firework iced biscuits ,campfire....

We all had an amazing weekend and i was totally thrilled when my assessor visited us and granted me my indoor permit ,to enable me to take Beavers on sleepovers in the future as the Permit Holder.

what a weekend...

Well I'm just about getting over the tiredness after the most fantastic weekend away at Scrapagogo's Gogo getaway, based at the Theobalds Park Hotel in Cheshunt.

I was there in a dual role and had an absolute blast.

It was great to catch up with the rest of the DT and I took some inspirational classes.
I will blog them over the coming week or so.

I had great crop table mates and laughed so much my sides hurt so thanx guys for your great company, there's nothing better than like minded people.

Jackie, my weekend would not have been complete without you to share it all with , x.

One issue on the way home was a flat tire on the M1,with a long wait on the hard shoulder for an AA man which added 2 hours to our journey but Jackie & I coped and eventually warmed back up !!

Ribbon Mad

I was very honoured to be Ribbon Mad's guest designer for their november kit.

The ribbons in Novembers kit are all different shades of blue which were so easy to use and my favourite colour too.

only a week to go...

I am getting so excited, this time next week I will be at the Scrapagogo gogo getaway.
This is the retreat Scrapagogo runs twice a year.
Although I am on there Design Team I actually WON my place as a delegate at this retreat in a raffle they ran at their last retreat in june !!
I am nearly organised which is a good thing as the children are now off school for half term.
In the build up to the retreat there has been a number of challenges on the Scrapagogo Club House ,to get us in the mood.
The first was to scrap something Precious.

Using an Gogo kit (?nov 07 !!) i scrapped how my feelings to "special" jewellery has changed after we were burgled years ago and now i wear what i love everyday.

The second was a team challenge,to scrap a Lo using a film or song title.

Harriet sings this song alot and seemed an obvious choice for this fab photo taken by Cheryl Johnson at the june gogo getaway.

under construction...

For my birthday Paul decided it was about time my craft room was decorated.
To be honest it was a lovely thought but i was dreading it,some stuff had been in there since we moved in 4 years ago.
I bit the bullet and emptyed the room-those boxes now seem to fill 2 other rooms !!and thats with me throwing loads out !
So here it is waiting to be skimmed.
Will keep you up to date on it's progress and for now my laptops on the kitchen table.

messing about on the river...

On sunday we went to Stratford upon Avon for a day out. The weather was kind and stayed dry. After a wander through the markets we watched a hilarious street entertainer showing off his juggling skills and daring fire act.

Then Dan suggested having a go at rowing a boat on the river
Sadly the boats only hold 4 people so I volunteered to watch from the bank.

They were so funny to watch.
