Sitting Pretty

When the children were planning their bedrooms I really wanted to make things for them all to make the transition back home as smooth as possible. We had a window seat built in Harriet's bay.I decided to make some cushions for this space to make a cosy place for her to read.

I crocheted a granny square, for both sides in colours complimenting her room.

Next I'm planning a flower cushion using similar colours using this pattern from Attic 24

Harriet was so thrilled with her cushion, it made sewing in all the ends more worth while.

cooking up a storm

well less of a storm & more of a treat to be honest :)
This month I've sadly been slacking with my personal challenge to try new recipes.
So after a flick through this lovely cookbook,

I chose a recipe for chocolate shortbread, I know another sweet treat but there are plenty of people in this house to share it with & who stop me eating it all!

verdict- well it certainly all got eaten but I still prefer the plain shortbread recipe I normally use.
Now need to find some savoury recipes to try.
Any suggestions ?

Perfect...

ScrapaGoGo's Essentially GoGo April kit, Going for a Song has similar colours to my wedding so I thought it would be perfect to scrap one of our photos I'd not scrapped before. The photo is not great quality but then again it is nearly 19 years ago!!
I loved all the little jars on the Dear Lizzy paper & decided to make a focal point embellishment with one of them. I used mine to hold little punched hearts but it could hold confetti, a lock of hair, ephemera
I used the plastic packaging from the Dear Lizzy letter stickers & placed it over the jar I wanted then sewed it down slowly using my machine but it could easily be done by hand. I sewed the jar sides first then added the punched shapes before sewing the jar closed. I then cut it out carefully close to the stitch line and added it to my page.

I finished the Lo with exclusive hybrids, charm & My Minds Eye layered sticker for my title.
Many thanks for looking x

Chuffed

Earlier today I learnt that fellow ScrapaGoGo DT Girlie Nicola had given me a blog award.

I am flattered that Nicola thought of me for this award, as it means dearest or beloved in German x

The honour of accepting the award is traditionally done in the following way:

1. show thanks to the blogger who awarded you by linking back to their blog

2. choose 5 blogs with less than 200 followers and let them know about your nomination by leaving a comment on their blog

3. post the award on your blog!

So here are the names of blogs I love to visit :)

1. Yvonne

New Addition

Over at Twisted Sketches this week it's my DT teams turn to create with sketch 147 with the twist - animal.
This twist gave me an idea to scrap the newest members of the Rowlands household, Dan's fish, a moving home present from his Dad & I.
It took a while to get a decent photo & it so made me laugh when Dan came home from school to find the camera & tripod in the middle of his bedroom!!

New Addition.
This is the last of this Cosmo Cricket, Snorkel paper that I have.
The other supplies are from a real mix of manufacturers as I try not only to mix it up but also use it up x
 Many thanks for looking x

Good Read

I had heard that this was a good book but having started it on the plane journey home from our holiday in Poland, I now find myself in a situation where I can't put it down! & even got caught cooking tea with it in my hand!
I plan to see the film once I finish it as I'm rather partial to Daniel Craig & find him very easy on the eye :)

He is constantly in our thoughts along with his amazing parents Janet & Anthony, plus their ever supportive families.

Join us in saying a little prayer for this courageous little man xxx

10things on the 10th ... chocolate!!

Welome to my 10 things on the 10th :)
It was a no brainer for me really being this close to Easter I just had to tell you about my top10 chocolate treats. They are in no particular order as it depends on availability & time of year!!

1.Cadbury creme eggs.
I love to bite off the top & scoop out the contents!
 2. Cadbury flake.
Do you remember the adverts for these ?? I so wanted to be the Flake girl sitting on the doorstep of the gypsy caravan!
 3. Peanut M&M's.
I tend to eat these in America, as I dislike most of their chocolate plus I love how they produce them in different colours to match the holidays! I know little things...
 4. Lindt.
When I'm in the mood for grown up chocolate, this is what I would choose everytime but I hate having to share them!
 5.Walnut Whip.
A favourite since childhood.
 6. Bournville.
If I feel the need for dark chocolate this is my number 1.
 7.Viennese Truffles.
The best Thorntons chocolate in my opinion.
8.Marathon/ snickers.
Favourite chocolate on the move.
 9.Ghirardelli Caramel Squares.
There is a Ghirardelli shop at Downtown Disney, Florida & each time we are in the area we make a pilgrimage to the shop especially to buy these :D
 10. After Eight Mints.
These little thins in their own little pockets take me straight pack to childhood Christmases & celebrations but woe betide you if you left the empty pockets in the box!
I hope you like my sweet 10 things on the 10th.
Let me know what your favourite is & hop on over to Shimelles blog for a host of other 10 things too.

With a little twist...

This week it was the turn of my team to design with the Twisted Sketch with the twist - Yellow.

I remembered some photos that I hadn't yet scrapped, taken of me this time last year at  GoGo Getaway 6 lying in the daffodils in the beautiful grounds of Theobalds Park Hotel.

Spring Break.
I turned the sketch to suit my photos.
The papers are a real mix including Studio Calico, MME & Sassafrass from which the flowers were cut to form the wavy border. The alpha is Sassafrass too.
Hop on over for loads of inspiration & sketches.
many thanks for looking.

Getaway 8 continued ...

As you may have gathered already, I had the most amazing time at the Getaway, with these Ladies..
 and these lovely Ladies xxx
I also had the pleasure of teaching 3 of the 21 classes. I really love the teaching side of this craft & how from the same supplies each person puts their own unique spin on the classes making them totally their own.

Eclectic Avenue.
Utilising a whole pack of chipboard houses.
 Cotton & Calico Chronicles.
Making a mask & using it to decorate a handmade canvas book.

 Tagged to Transfer.
Using acetone as a transfer medium.
Many thanks to all the ladies for their wonderful company & their kind comments about my classes.
I had a blast & roll on October!

Getaway 8

WOW what an amazing weekend we just had at ScrapaGoGo's GoGo Getaway held at a fabulous venue , Theobalds Park Hotel.
(Chinese lanterns floating away from a wedding reception at the hotel.)
The spacious crop room had a lovely vibe with chatting & laughter all around.

The Ladies really rose to the challenges & produced a fabulous gallery of Lo's to be proud of, as well as attending their chosen 7 classes designed especially for them.

I even got in on the act & made myself a name badge :)
I'm not sure what it says about me!! that when making an eight sided badge it turns into a pie!!
Answers on a postcard...
I'll share more of our weekend tomorrow x
